Message from the Chairman

Green Action Foundation is a bold initiative by Sujit Das, who has wide international experience in developmental activities and has in-depth expertise in harnessing the potential of bamboo, a form of natural resource with which Assam is bestowed with in abundance. GAF has been formally incorporated, complying with all statutory requirements. An ambitious Action Plan has been drawn up. It is expected that after the initial revving up on the runway, it will take off very soon as per its flight plan.
Bamboo, as a natural resource like many others, can be put to an immense lot of use. The number of products to which it can be converted into is indeed mindboggling. Ecologically, it is one of the safest products to meet human utilitarian use. Yet, except for the traditional, mostly handicraft, products, very little value addition or product substitution through bamboo has been achieved. This is mainly because an integrative and holistic approach towards harnessing our natural resources has never been taken. Matching the resource to the end products, untying the supply chain complexities and unravelling the perplexing marketing labyrinths require a scientific as well as analytic approach, which GAF hopes to provide, blazing a trail that would hopefully lead to a viable path towards socio-economic growth.

” Greening of industry has never been more relevant than it is today, as jobless growth and concern over environmental degradation pose a serious challenge to the sustainability of economic growth. It is well known that emissions from industry contribute majorly to pollution worldwide. In this scenario, MSMEs are particularly relevant as they account for more than half of GDP in most countries and upto 45% of employment in emerging market economies. Role of small industries in job creation especially in developing countries is noteworthy in terms of it’s high absorption of labour from traditional sectors such as agriculture and textiles. MSMEs also have a great potential to offer creative solutions through the adoption of environment friendly processes. It is important, therefore, to fully support MSMEs in the adoption of new technologies including resource efficiency and cleaner production which reduce carbon footprints. And finally, integrating green approaches into economic policy packages may help in green recovery from the impact of COVID 19, given the universally acknowledged correlation between pollution and the pandemic. Green Action FouNdation is a timely step forward in helping to meet sustainability challenges of today and the future.”

“I Congratulate and convey my best wishes to team of GAF for taking initiative in promotion of MSME sector in various activities, prominently in the field of Bio-fuel sector, where the MSME sector can play a major role in developing Bio-Energy applications to create a sustainable environment and inclusive development.”

Wish all the best to Green Action Foundation for betterment of society
